Miss me? No? Well I did!!
To all the blogs I haven’t commented on:
WOW! That sounds fantastic. Oh yeah, I wish I’d seen that, must have been great fun. Keep the blogs coming! You rock!
So I’ve been a bit busy and I’m actually heading out to film tomorrow so I can’t write for long.
I’ll save the vids for last.
New Job
First off I am now a home carer for Glasgow Council. It is the PERFECT job for me right now. It’s 20hours a week, but I’m starting to grab overtime here and there. What ACTUALLY happens is I work 40 hours in 1 week and then get a whole week off!! 40 hours in 1 week = 20 hours in 2 weeks making it a 20hr a week contract.
It’s a good job! Yeah, the money is good and I get a WHOLE week off for freedom to write AND film. However, at the end of the day, I feel like I’ve made a difference to peoples’ lives and that’s something money can’t buy!
New Projects
So with some freed up time, why has it take me so long to blog? Well I’ve been putting that time to good use. I’ve written up some scripts; I’m still working on that pilot deal - yeah, my co-writer is dragging his feet a little to say the least - and I have a bunch of good mates and we’re going to try and set up an ACTUAL film company. We have the name and I’m already working on the website.
Yes, up until now we’ve only done Stargate fan films, and the next 5/6/7 projects are all fan vids based on that. HOWEVER, if you watch our vids you will notice that with each one we are starting to gel and I’m getting my act together as a director!!
As dumb as this sounds I’ve noticed a real boost in my confidence by filming myself and having it online. I NEVER want to be an actor but as you’ll see in one of my recent videos - holy crap I came out of my shell a little there! Also, my acting has actually improved! I CANNOT watch SGC (our first vids) at all. I was so god awful and the direction was full of mistakes - circle of confusion, anyone???? However, with Boys’ Day Off and the Favourite Lines vid - I think there IS improvement. Now I’ll NEVER be a real actor but improvement makes it less sucky.
We’re hoping to gain some fans and make work good enough to be used as evidence of our competency one day. Once we get a proper company set up we can get grants for a proper camera and the rest is just finding students who’ll work for nothing ;). When that happens, you’ll never have to see my ugly mug in our vids again :D.
New Vids
My Favourite Lines Stargate Atlantis: Joe Flanigan
Boys’ Day Off (Sheppard and Beckett): Stargate Atlantis
How GREAT is Fraggle Dragon? I’m glad we have 1 actress amongst us. You can see Jules in the giant mirror but that couldn’t really be gotten around so it’s not bad direction; it’s lack of options ;)
If that wasn’t enough - I made bloopers for both. The bloopers on the Favourite Lines vid have taken over the popularity of the actual video itself!!! WTF? Fraggle Dragon thinks it’s the little jig I do at the start, but I tend to think people just like seeing me lose it at MYSELF!!! :P
My Favourite Lines Stargate Atlantis: Joe Flanigan (BLOOPERS)
Believe it or not I did enjoy making this vid, but from these bloopers you’d never be able to tell!!
Boys’ Day Off (Sheppard and Beckett): Stargate Atlantis (BLOOPERS)
And that’s it guys. I’ll hopefully sort out a proper schedule soon so I can blog more often. For anyone in the UK, I’ll be going to Collectormania 13 in May so if you’re going HOLLER!!!

New to blogger and A Dog's Breakfast is a horror now? WHAT?
So after years of myspace blogging I've decided to check out blogger. Why not, eh?
I thought I'd grace this premiere blog with one of the things I am most noted for and do best: video editing/manipulating. My last youtube account was deleted even though I had permission to host the videos (stupid youtube). I have since aquired a new account and to start off in a bad way, I've added a fan made trailer for A Dog's Breakfast by making it out to be a horror movie. It's a new way to sell it to those reluctant other halves who crave nothing but horror and gore ;). Trust me, it works! And they don't hate you after because they had enough fun watching this fantastic film. (Buy it from amazon and visit adogsbreakfastmovie.com)
So for all new people, welcome. My name is Maddy but I mostly go by either the name McKay or Bauer. McKay for reasons only mildly related to Stargate Atlantis but I do have similar traits (hypoglycaemia, citrus allergy, Canadian and classed as a genius - although I'm less arrogant and I study many martial arts so I'm a bit fitter and able to handle myself :P) and Bauer for ice hockey sponsorship reasons and nothing do to with the show, 24.
I'm a bit of a computer geek and a science nerd. However, I'm also a bit of a cooler geek in that I play in a sort of rock band - I love my guitar - and I'm a writer who tends to write horror, action and comedy scripts as opposed to much sci-fi. That being said, I do happen to have a pilot deal for a sci fi series that should begin filming early this year lol.
I'm a big fan of independent film and theatre. I love Troma and any other film company that sticks it to the man and creates true independent flicks, not the Hollywood 'anything under $10 million counts as independent' flicks. There are hundreds of struggling writers and directors who could kick the ass of many of their Hollywood counterparts, but are never given the chance.
One of my foster homes as a child was in a kung fu school and I learnt to perform on stage. Not just stunts but acting and singing. I got my first taste of theatre at age 7 and my love continues to this day. At present I have only managed to get work as an assistant director for one show and writer/director for another (and reluctant actor but we won't go into that :P). I've done a little film work but it's hard to tell what I prefer. Film work has its security in that messing up a line or mark doesn't matter so much as the scene can be rerun. However, there's an edge to the theatre in that every action, line and scene has to be near perfect. That can be scary or exciting, depending on how you view it but to me it's a whole different experience and requires and entirely different performance and commitment. Both are hard in their own ways and both are great. I couldn't make a decision without further experience...hint, hint ;).
So I've rambled on enough! Hope this proves to be a worthwhile venture!
McKay out!
